My background is in data. When I launched my first SaaS and started trying to grow on X, I didn't approach it as a creative exercise. I approached it as a pattern recognition problem.

The 3 Universal Triggers
Before getting to the specific patterns, there are three psychological triggers that appeared in 94% of all viral tweets I studied. Miss these and no technique will save you. Nail them and almost any structure works.
1. The Information Gap
The tweet creates a question the reader's brain cannot ignore. It's not a mystery โ it's a gap between what you just stated and what the reader needs to know to make sense of it. The brain physically cannot leave this gap open without discomfort.
2. The Identity Signal
The tweet says something that makes a specific type of person think: 'This is about me.' It addresses a specific experience, fear, or aspiration that the reader hasn't seen articulated before. Identification triggers sharing.
3. The Status Play
Reading (and sharing) the tweet gives the reader elevated status among their peers. Either they learn something that makes them smarter, or sharing it says something about who they are. Every viral tweet offers a social status transaction.
